As you endure this divine discipline,
remember that God is treating you as his own children.
Whoever heard of a child who was never disciplined?
- NLT

Do not be overcome by evil;
but overcome evil with good.

John 8:10-11

Then Jesus stood up again and said to her,
"Where are your accusers?
Didn't even one of them condemn you?"
"No, Lord." she said.
And Jesus said,
"Neither do I. God and sin no more."
- NLT

Luke 4:18-19

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for He has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim
that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors,
and that the time of the Lord's favor has come."

Bibles that I Own

KJV (King James Version)
- KJV Compact Reference Bible with Snap-Flap Closing, Black Bonded Leather, Gold Edition
- KJV Giant Print Reference Bible

NKJV (New King James Version)
- NKJV Nelson Study Bible, Black Genuine Leather
This is one of my favourtie Bibles for its scholarly thoroughness and devotional quality. If I could only take one Bible with me among all the Study and Devotional Bibles, this one would be it.
- NKJV Compact Reference Bible with SNap-Flap Closing, Black Bonded Leather
- NKJV Pocket Companion Bible, Brown Royal Leathersoft
Very light-weight and compact, and yet the typeface is very clear and readable. The Brown/Burgundy copy that I've got is beautiful. This is one of my favorite Bibles. I use it at home, at the church, and on the road.
- New Possibility Thinkers Bible
This is yet another one of my favorite devotional Bibles. The only thing is that it is currently out of print. I came across this edition of the bible at a used bookstore and was certainly delightly surprised. I hope Nelson Publishing will bring it back soon. It is edited by Dr. Robert H. Schuller, the founding pastor of Crystal Cathedral.
- NKJV New Scofield Study Bible, Black Bonded Leather
- Gift and Award Bible, Black Imitation Leather
- Spirit-Filled Woman's Devotional Bible
(I got this Bible at a Christian Bookstore after hearing another customer raving about it - she LOVED her copy of this Bible. I have only skimmed through it so far so I can't make any comments yet.)
- The MacArthur Daily Bible, paperback

NIV (New International Version)

- NIV Prayer Devotional Bible, paperback
One of my favorite devotional Bibles.

- NIV Encouragement Bible, Burgandy Bounded Leather
One of my favorite devotional Bibles.

- Life Application Study Bible, Black Genuine Leather (It is special 'cause it was a gift from a good friend. I have owned it for years and yet it is still like new - for that reason I have been purchasing Bibles with genuine/top grain leather whenever possible.)

- Recovery Devotional Bible, Hardcover
(Another one of my favorites for its devotionals and notes. It is actually a great Devotitonal Bible for everyone, not just for those who are in "recovery". I also love its soothing light-blue cover.)

- NIV Giant Print Reference Bible

- NIV Student Bible, black bonded leather

- NIV Study Bible, Italian Duo-tone

- NIV Quest Study Bible, Burgundy genuine leather

NASB (New American Standard Bible)
- NASB Compact Reference Bible with Snap-Flap Closing, Black Bonded Leather
- NASB Gift and Award Bible

NRSV (New Revised Standard Version)
- NRSV Gift and Award Bbible, by World Publishing
(I am not a fan of the NRSV "yet", but I must say that this is the most "readable" Gift and Award Bible among all translations for its reasonably clear and large font and spacing - If you have picked up a "Gift and Award Bible" of any translation, you know what I mean.

NLT (New Living Translation)
- NLT Personal Edition Bible, Black Bonded Leather
(This Bible is a beauty, and the print is amazingly clear and easy on the eye.)
- Premer Gift and Award Bible, Black Imitation Leather
(This is the best Gift and Award Bible among all translations for its "value-added" content, such as Book Introductions, Memorable Verses, and other study helps. And it is a pretty Bible whether you choose one in black or burgundy - it does not look cheap like some other Gift and Award Bibles. The only problems are that the print is tiny and the binding does not last too long - mine fell apart after 2 weeks of use - but that can be fixed with "crazy glue".
**** Note that the 2nd edition of NLT is coming out with a supposedly more precise translation. I would hold my next purchase of an NLT Bible for another couple months.

- NLT (2nd edition) Abundant Life Bible, paperback

ESV (English Standard Version)
- ESV Classical Thinline, Black Bonded Leather
(Err, I wish I had bought the one with Black Genuine Leather. Other than that, it is OK and the CD-Rom that comes with it is of GREAT value.)

HCSB (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
- HCSB Gift and Award Bible

The Message
- Compact, Burgundy Bonded Leather

New Century Version
- Everyday Study Bible, black leatherflex
I love the articles (260 of them!), study notes and the chain reference system (I read somewhere in a review that this version's reference system takes after the Thompson Chain Reference Study Bible.) The typeface/print is very clear and readable. I wish NKJV, NIV, or NLT would come up with a study Bible that's similar to this one.

Galatians 5:1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
- NIV

1 Peter 3:15

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect.
- NIV

Psalm 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
- NIV

Isaiah 61:1-2

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn.

Deuteronomy 10:12

... what does the Lord your God require of you,
but to fear the Lord your God,
to walk in all His ways
and to love Him
to serve the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul.
